El desarrollo del sentido de Sí mismo y del sentimiento de vergüenza: la vergüenza como señal de la construcción del Self

En este trabajo se revisan las principales aportaciones sobre el origen y desarrollo del Sí mismo, poniendo el énfasis en la aparición de los sentimientos de orgullo y vergüenza y en el papel que cumplen como señales de que el sentido del propio self ya esta disponible para el sujeto. A la par que el recorrido evolutivo, se delinean tres facetas de la vergüenza que estarán presentes desde los 4 años, y que se articulan con la dialéctica del narcisismo: la vergüenza como sentimiento que organiza la percepción del déficit, la vergüenza como reacción al sentimiento de culpa, y la vergüenza como refugio, solución auto-reguladora para recuperar el sentido del self.

This paper revises the principal contributions to the origin and development of the Self, emphasizing on the emergence of the sense of pride and shame in the role they fulfill as signs that the sense of the self itself is already available to the subject. Jointly with the developmental evolution, three facets of shame are outlined, that are present as of 4 years of age, and that articulate with the dialectic of narcissism: shame as a feeling that organizes the perception of the deficit, shame as a reaction to the feeling of guilt, and shame as a refuge, an auto-regulatory solution to recuperate the sense of self.
