Resumen:
En este trabajo trato de poner de relieve las dificultades para diagnosticar la instauración de un impasse en el curso del proceso analítico, así como la necesidad de diferenciarlo de lo que podemos llamar los límites del análisis, en general, y de cada análisis en particular. Advierto que la idealización del análisis puede llevar a prolongar indebidamente, con los inevitables perjuicios para el paciente, análisis que han llegado a su límite, bajo la convicción de que se trata de un impasse que debe ser resuelto. Introduzco la perspectiva intersubjetiva del impasse para lograr una comprensión amplia de éste y la corresponsabilidad de paciente y analista en su fijación. También hablo de la noción de “complementariedad como causa eficiente del impasse, y de la necesidad de disolver esta complementariedad con la creación de un espacio en el que paciente y analista puedan desplegar conjuntamente su fantasía. Finalmente se incluye una ilustración clínica.

Abstract:
This paper tries to point out the difficulties in the diagnosis of the instauration of an impasse in the course of the analytic process, as well as the need to differentiate it from what we can call the limits of analysis, in general and of each analysis in particular. I advise that the idealization of analysis can lead to unnecessarily extending it in time, with the inevitable damage to the patient, when in fact the analysis has reached its limit, under the conviction that there is an impasse that must be resolved. I incorporate the intersubjective perspective of impasse in order to reach a broader understanding of it, as well as the co-responsibility of both the patient and the analyst in this. I also mention the notion of what is “complementary” as an efficient cause of the impasse, and the need to dissolve this complementarity by creating a space in which the patient and the analyst can jointly unfold their fantasy. To end, a clinical illustration is included.
